Editorial Standards
GreenOurs exists to give people trustworthy, practical advice about growing things and living more sustainably — whether they have three acres or a single windowsill. This page explains how we research, write, and fact-check every article we publish, and how we handle the products we recommend.
Our Mission
We are a premium niche editorial publication, not a content farm and not a product catalogue. Every piece we publish is meant to be worth bookmarking — something you'd actually return to the next time you have a plant problem or a question about living a little more sustainably. We'd rather publish fewer, better articles than chase volume.
How We Research and Write
Every article on GreenOurs is written by one of three dedicated writers, each with a distinct focus and voice — you can read more about them below. Before a piece is published, it moves through several editorial stages: drafting, an SEO and readability review, and a final quality check against a fifteen-point editorial checklist covering accuracy, voice consistency, and structure.
We hold ourselves to a simple standard: every factual claim in an article must be accurate or clearly hedged where certainty isn't possible. We don't invent statistics, studies, or quotes. Where a claim depends on variables — growth rates, timelines, regional climate — we say so, rather than presenting a single number as universal.
Regional Accuracy
Our readers come from all over the world, with a large number joining us from Southeast Asia. We write with that in mind: measurements are given in both metric and imperial, and advice is checked against more than one climate context rather than assuming a single temperate-zone growing season applies to everyone.
Affiliate and Advertising Disclosure
GreenOurs is supported by display advertising and affiliate partnerships, primarily through the Amazon Associates program. When we link to a product, we may earn a small commission on qualifying purchases — at no extra cost to you.
Product mentions are never sold, and they never come from advertisers requesting placement. A product only appears in an article if it genuinely solves the problem that section of the article is discussing. We cap how many product callouts can appear in any single article, we never place one in an article's opening section, and every affiliate link is clearly labeled with its own disclosure line, directly beneath the product itself — not buried in a footer.
Advertising placements are kept clearly separate from editorial content and are never styled to resemble an article, a recommendation, or a review.
Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes — growing advice, in particular, has a lot of "it depends." If you spot an error, a broken piece of advice, or something that's gone out of date, we want to hear about it. We correct factual errors promptly and note substantial revisions where it matters for the reader.
Our Writers
Maya writes for readers just starting out — beginner plant care, indoor gardening, and seasonal guides for new growers. Her focus is confidence-building: what you actually need to know, without the overwhelm.
Daniel covers the more technical side of plant care — pest and disease diagnosis, watering science, fertilizers, and tools. His pieces lead with facts and specific, actionable steps.
Sophie writes about sustainable living without the guilt — zero-waste basics, composting, and everyday swaps that actually make a difference. She's upfront when something is easier said than done.
